What is an Electronic Message Center?
An electronic message center (EMC) is a programmable outdoor LED sign that displays text, graphics, animation, and video on the property it advertises. Businesses, schools, and churches use EMCs in place of changeable-letter marquee boards because messages can be updated remotely in seconds and scheduled by time of day. An EMC differs from a digital billboard: an EMC promotes the organization it stands in front of, while a digital billboard sells rotating ad space to third-party advertisers along a highway. EMCs come in full-color and monochrome versions, and pixel pitch (the distance between LED pixels, measured in millimeters) determines how close viewers can stand and still see a sharp image.
What is Pixel Pitch?
Pixel pitch is the distance, in millimeters, between the centers of two adjacent pixels. A smaller pitch means a sharper image up close; a larger pitch covers more sign area at a lower cost and reads well from a distance. When deciding what sign and pixel pitch is best for your sign, location and viewing distance are the two most important factors.
